Genesis10 is currently seeking a Sr. Network Engineer, Technology Operations with our consumer finance lender firm client in South Jordan, UT. This is a Direct Hire position.
Summary: - The Senior Network Engineer position is to design, implement, and administer the Bank's networks and systems resources.
- Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of LANs, WANs, communications, security, privacy, technology compliance, and web-based technology.
- Suggest technology standards for data, network configuration, network security, and network topology.
- Work with, monitor and assess staff training requirements on technology-related issues and provide input to the Information Technology Manager regarding required training.
- Participate in the creation and implementation of an IT strategy for the organization.
- This position has access to server data and therefore must be absolutely trustworthy, reliable, and independent.
Responsibilities: - Serves as a subject matter expert of all network needs for the Bank.
- Works with users and vendors researching and implementing new applications and technologies to support current and future business needs.
- Manages the Bank's technology systems relating to the network infrastructure: firewalls, routers, switches, and VPN systems.
- Assist the management of facilities, data closets, telco closets, and all functions of the data center.
- Document network topology and provide documentation for solutions.
- Implements Bank policies including the Bank's Information Systems and Security Policy to protect the Bank's interests.
- Experience with, and a good understanding of, change management practices and a strong commitment to quality.
- Provides management with timely reviews of the organization's technological status and progress in its various programs and activities.
- Implements systems changes as required by state and federal regulations, and makes appropriate recommendations for improving efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.
- Assist in other IT duties as assigned by IT management.
- Compliance with Laws & Regulations:
- Responsible for complying with all of the Bank's internal control policies and procedures.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with all laws and regulations to which the Bank is subject.
- Responsible for communicating problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, noncompliance with laws and regulations, policy violations, or illegal acts.
- Education and Experience:
- The ideal candidate will possess 5-8 years of actual work experience in the following areas: general network and system management skills.
- Should possess a CCNA and a four-year degree in computer-related studies or equivalent experience.
- Expert knowledge of firewalls, switches, routers, load balancers, VPNs, cabling systems, LAN/WAN topologies.
Requirements: - Extensive knowledge of network security: segmentation, device hardening, ability to decipher network communication using a sniffer, vulnerability remediation, etc.
- Expert knowledge of networking concepts: TCP/IP, high availability, VLANs, IPSEC, routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
- Strong project management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and excellent interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to effectively communicate IT issues to IT management personnel and individuals with non-technical backgrounds.
- Familiarity with the banking industry, specifically FDIC regulations and guidelines, is highly desirable.
- Expert experience troubleshooting complex hardware and software systems.
- Capable of working independently or in a team environment.
- Ability to work with other IT members to architect, engineer, design, and troubleshoot issues pertaining to systems interfacing with network resources.
- Experience reviewing and selecting best-fit technologies based on project needs and cost-effectiveness.
- Experience integrating diverse systems and technologies.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds with two hands, unassisted, approximately six-feet above floor level. This is to rack-mount network hardware and peripherals.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Visio.
- Must be able to document and create network diagrams and document network solutions.
- Familiarity with DNS concepts.
- Experience and understanding of data center design and operations.
