As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a crucial role in examining cellular samples for the early detection of abnormal and cancerous cells. Your expertise in cytological techniques and your ability to accurately interpret and report findings will contribute to the timely and accurate diagnosis of patients' conditions.

Responsibilities:

Perform microscopic examination of cellular samples, including Pap smears, fine-needle aspirations, and other cytological specimens.
Identify and classify normal and abnormal cells based on established criteria, recognizing changes indicative of disease.
Prepare and stain cellular samples using appropriate techniques to enhance cellular features and aid in accurate interpretation.
Document findings accurately and thoroughly, maintaining detailed records of each specimen examined.
Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to communicate and discuss challenging cases.
Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
Stay current with advancements in cytological techniques, attending continuing education programs and workshops.
Adhere to laboratory safety protocols and infection control measures to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
Assist in the training and orientation of new cytotechnologists or laboratory personnel.
Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment within the laboratory.
