Engineer I/II/III
Overview
Orange County Government in Orlando, Florida is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Enginerr I/II/III for the Engineering Division. This position performs highly advanced professional engineering work and provides supervision for one or more engineering functions. Work is performed with a considerable degree of independence under the general supervision of the Project Manager.
Representative Duties:
Project Management for assigned road improvement project or program, to include:
- Assists in procuring Professional Engineering Services for Capital Improvement (CIP) projects to include writing scopes of services and negotiating the proposals.
- Assists in managing engineer design to comply with Florida Department of Transportation Standards including Florida Greenbook, FDOT Design Manual and Orange County policies.
- Reviews construction plans, reports and design calculations.
- Assists in managing project budget, project schedule and applicable change orders.
- Coordinating Right of Way Acquisition, Utility Coordination and permitting.
- Assists in preparing Board of County Commissioners' agenda items.
- Assists in negotiating and implementing agreements related to Utility Relocations, railroad crossings, public/private partnership projects, etc.
- Participates in public meetings.
- Prepares bid documents, assist in procuring construction services and provides technical support during construction including responding to contractors' requests for information.
Assists in managing assigned programs including but not limited to the following:
- Bike and Pedestrian Safety, New Sidewalks, Intersection Improvements. Water Quality Projects, Stormwater Drainage, Recreational Trails, Bridge Replacement, Americans with Disabilities Act Rehabilitation (ADA) Program and Roadway Lighting.
Supervision of technicians as required.
