Teacher's Aid for Special Education Classes
Health Source Group a trusted pioneer of healthcare consulting and staffing currently seeks compassionate, qualified, and committed Teacher's Aides to service a school district located in Babylon, NY
Note: All candidates must be dedicated to working with children with special needs. Experience working with children and adolescence with special needs and disabilities is highly preferred, but not mandated.
TOWN/COUNTY: (Suffolk County)
DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform classroom and school duties as assigned by educational institution administration or lead teacher(s);
Assist teacher and classroom staff in maintaining a safe, positive, and organized learning climate (i.e., keep materials and equipment clean and in good working order, set-up materials for use by all during activities and according to daily lesson plans);
Assist students in physical care tasks and health-related activities including, but not limited to therapeutic feeding, toileting, and positioning in adapted equipment.
Collaborate with classroom team in designing lesson plan activities based upon knowledge of children with special needs and other learning and developmental disorders.
Assist teacher in maintaining accurate classroom documentation (i.e., student attendance and health checks, classroom housekeeping daily checklists);
Transport students to and from school, ensuring they are seated securely and have all necessary adapted equipment in solid, safe, working order.
Be aware of classroom activities and location of students at all times and anticipate and respond to individual needs as directed by the teacher.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Teacher Aide experience and associate degree, or higher, in related field
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS (*candidates must* provide all documents)
In order to work within the school setting, it is mandatory for all employees to be fingerprinted and cleared by the New York State Department of Education.
*Candidates must be willing to be fingerprinted immediately*
