Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Pension Benefits, the Pension Analyst is responsible for preparing complex benefit calculations and reviewing the calculations of the Associate Pension Analyst. The Pension Analyst is responsible for reviewing and processing retirement applications.
Job Requirements:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Review and process incoming retirement applications and associated documentation for completeness and accuracy.
- Perform the review of death benefit applications and documentation, submitted by Associates, for completeness and accuracy.
- Communicate with members and beneficiaries verbally and in writing to facilitate understanding and obtain required documentation.
- Process Reversionary Pensions and Non-Duty Disability pension calculations and associated refunds (i.e., 20% bills, 2.2 refunds (715 application), SPC refunds, 1% refunds).
- Process and review documentation in a timely manner to ensure all tasks are completed.
- Act as a mentor and trainer to Associate Analysts.
- Adhere to plan provisions, policies, and procedures in workload management and benefit processing.
- Assist department management and team on various projects as required.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and process numerous projects in a timely manner.
- Strong organizational, and time management skills.
- Analytical thinking skills that support the ability to recognize issues, analyze proper procedures, and solve problems.
- The position requires independent thinking, as well as collaboration with the Pension team and various departments throughout the organization.
- Acquire proficient knowledge to become the subject matter expert in all processing areas.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 1-3 years relevant experience.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will likely sit for long periods of time, with some standing and repetitive physical activity.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Environment:
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e., computers, phones, and photocopiers).
