Job Description: The Windows Systems Administrator management in the architecture, implementation, maintenance, break/fix, and monitoring of the server and storage infrastructure and certain core applications. The administrator will be able to maintain and enhance the Windows 2012/2008 Active Directory Domain and Windows servers; the MS Exchange 2010, Office 365 and related messaging systems; as well as learn and lend assistance with a myriad of other solutions that are currently deployed at LAPD.
Assists in monitoring and maintaining the Client, Linux, VMware and Windows server infrastructure and related operations infrastructure
• Works with other team members within LAPD to ensure 24/7/365 mission critical applications availability, reliability and performance
• Assists in Active Directory, Windows Server, MS Exchange and Office 365 administration
• Assists in the day-to-day maintenance of enterprise file and storage systems
• Assists in performing a daily system review that involves checking the health of systems, and diagnosing and correcting system anomalies
• Assists the team in developing and supporting long-term and short-term strategies for system operations, security, optimization and improvement
• Develops and supports procedures for automating systems health check
• Performs hardware/software installations and upgrades on multiple distributed systems
• Assists in developing detailed disaster recovery systems and procedures in conjunction with the IT Security team
• Supports backup recovery, performance and tuning, problem determination, resolution and deployment
• Develops and documents support strategies, troubleshooting guidelines, and escalation procedures, supporting enterprise computing
Other Functions
• Assists IT Security with antivirus server administration
• Assists IT Application team with problem resolution
• Assists Desktop and Service Desk team with problem resolution
