CIC is looking for a personable and organized individual to support our Events program at our St. Louis campus. This is an exciting, full-time opportunity for someone with at least 1-3 years of experience working in events.

ABOUT CIC EVENTS
Events play a critical role in our community by providing entrepreneurs, innovators, and others with an outlet to hone in on their venture, collaborate, and network with like-minded individuals. A variety of events occur at CIC, such as industry-specific presentations, large company meetings, programming meetups, pitching exercises, startup workshops, and panel discussions. The types of events we support benefit entrepreneurs by giving them the resources, tools, and skills needed to flourish. Learn more about events at CIC through our events page and our blog.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WORK
You will be reporting to our Events Lead and frequently engaging with other internal CIC teams across our St. Louis campus and CIC global Events and Marketing teams. This role includes both leading event coordination and niche projects, as well as collaborative projects with CIC stakeholders. The position will be based primarily onsite at CIC St. Louis.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
• Screening and reviewing incoming event inquiries from CIC members, collaborators in the innovation community, and other companies and organizations. Typically event inquiries are received through a form on our website, in which questions range from basic event details to general content of the event.
• Coordinating event details through the entire process, while communicating the philosophy of CIC’s events program and explaining the parameters for hosting events at CIC. Event coordination includes providing tours and quotes for event spaces, communicating with building management and security, updating the Certificate of Insurance for vendors, issuing quotes, invoices, and tracking payments, ensuring all event details are clear to CIC teams and in line with CIC policies, marketing events to the startup community, arranging event staffing, and managing event follow-up and evaluation.
• Coordinating with CIC staff teams to schedule and participate in event staffing, setup, and breakdown. Acting as an ambassador for the event host and attendees by being an active supporter during your client’s events. This includes bringing an energetic approach to help support the host and confidently preempt and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
• Developing and maintaining a positive and collaborative working relationship with new and existing partners in the innovation ecosystem; working with them to create events of interest for the CIC community.
• Collaborating with the Relationship Management and Community teams on projects to improve event services.
• Leveraging event team tools such as Tripleseat, Hubspot, Eventbrite, etc, to organize, promote, and collect metrics from events. In addition, we ask that you feel empowered to keep informed and seek out what's new or trending in the Events industry for ways to bring buzz around your events and make them more impactful.•
Working alongside other team members to coordinate events for CIC members and staff.

Physical activities on the job: Frequent use of hands for fine motor work and mid to full vision. This position regularly includes hosting events in our spaces, necessitating moving around our spaces and lifting/moving AV equipment, tables, and chairs. This position also requires significant time working on a computer and navigating between different documents and platforms.

ABOUT YOU
You are a service-minded individual who is accountable, clever, enthusiastic, and able to work independently.

More specifically, you are:
• Personable and naturally enjoy helping others.
• Incredibly detail-oriented and organized, with solid time management skills.
• An excellent communicator and listener, both written and verbal, with anyone including colleagues, clients, vendors, and event hosts.
• Independent, trustworthy, and willing to learn.
• Calm in a very busy environment and confident when dealing with uncertainty and last minute changes.
• Unflappable in busy situations. This role will at times require supporting multiple event hosts at once.
• Comfortable with uncertainty and last minute changes, while also being comfortable asking for help.
• Creative and enjoy brainstorming ways to build an engaged community and provide fun experiences.
• Experimental and resourceful, able to identify and offer suggestions to solve persistent problems and anticipate future challenges.
• Knowledgeable about basic AV equipment and ready to develop expertise for new and emerging technologies.
• Excited about the innovation and collaboration happening within the St. Louis startup community, and eager to become a key member of it!

YOU HAVE
• A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 1-3 years of professional experience with coordinating events. Experience with professional event coordination, community organizing, the innovation ecosystem, or community building strongly preferred.
• Availability for occasional work outside of normal business hours (mornings, nights and/or weekends).
• A natural interest for helping/supporting others.
• An interest in a long-term role. We are a growing company, and we like to hire people who can grow with us over the years.

If you don't meet all the requirements or qualifications but bring some other unique skills and experience that would be valuable in this role, please apply and highlight those attributes for us in your cover letter.

OUR OFFER
• Starting compensation is $49,004.
• 100% company-paid premium healthcare and dental benefits.

ABOUT CIC ST. LOUIS
CIC St. Louis officially opened its doors in the fall of 2014 and manages over 160,000 sq. ft. across three sites, all located in the burgeoning Cortex district just south of the Central West End.

“The number one draw of CIC St. Louis is that we are essentially a startup and that’s very much how it feels. Our part-timers are often sitting in a room making decisions with the General Manager. Inversely, managers are also cleaning kitchens, loading the dishwasher, and covering concierge. The physical space, too, is really beautiful and really has an effect on people when they’re walking through. They see it and say, ‘This is not a normal office space. Something special is going on here.’” - Tim Young, Site Leader, CIC St. Louis

CIC is committed to building teams that reflect the fabric of the cities we support. We welcome all candidates regardless of race, color, ancestry, gender identity or expression, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, Veteran status, or any other legally protected status. Any other human expressions and experiences not mentioned here are equally welcome. If you require an accommodation please let us know. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
