This role will encompass managing a team of seven location managers who report directly to the Area Vice President. RESPONSIBILITIES: Area Production Manager - Establishes and upholds a culture that prioritizes safety as the topmost concern across all locations.
- Designs operational schedules to meet sales demand efficiently while optimizing equipment utilization.
- Generates comprehensive reports on various aspects such as production, Client, budgets, etc., to support corporate business planning.
- Assumes full profit and loss responsibilities for six operating locations.
- Prepares and implements strategic mine plans for both surface and underground sites, focusing on maximizing reserve life and minimizing production costs.
- Provides managerial guidance to the Equipment Manager, overseeing a portfolio of 200+ assets.
- Exercises direct supervision over the underground surveying and mine planning team.
- Exercises direct supervision over the underground development manager.
- Supervises the traveling fixed plant set-up/repair team and electricians, ensuring efficient operations within the area.
- Holds oversight responsibility for the repair and maintenance of mobile equipment and/or plants, aiming to maximize production capabilities and availability.
- Conducts research and development initiatives to identify cost-cutting strategies and enhance production efficiency.
- Ensures strict adherence to corporate policies and objectives, encompassing safety, personnel, and human resource compliance.
- May be assigned additional responsibilities by the SMA Vice President.
- Establishes and maintains internal relationships with sales personnel, quality personnel, safety and environmental staff, managers of other operating units, and accounting personnel.
- Cultivates external relationships with vendors, governmental agencies, outside sales representatives, customers, and community stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS: Area Production Manager - Preferred: Possession of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as mining engineering, geological engineering, or a related discipline, although not mandatory.
- 5+ years in overseeing and managing operations and/or engineering, along with significant involvement in aggregate processing techniques and surface quarrying.
- 5+ years in effectively overseeing underground mining operations.
- 4+ years in a supervisory capacity, primarily focused on personnel management and supervision.
- Crucial skills: Proficiency in effective communication and exceptional leadership abilities are indispensable.
- Proficiency in fundamental surveying and mapping techniques
- Demonstrated history of maintaining a proven record of occupational safety and ensuring strict adherence to MSHA safety standards.
- Familiarity with AggQC and AggFlow software tools is considered an advantage.
- Basic understanding of profit and loss statements and an understanding of accounting principles
- Software proficiency: Excellent command of Microsoft Office suite with the ability to swiftly adapt to various software applications.
- Capability to foster strong leadership capabilities at all organizational levels.
- Thorough awareness of environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
