RQ06302 - UX Designer Senior
Client: Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry
Period: 3 months
Start Date: 2024-01-02
End Date: 2024-03-29
Working Hrs.: 7.25 Hrs. / day

Must haves:
  • Core skills- 5+ years UX designing
  • Figma
  • Experience in managing user stories with Agile, SCRUM, Lean, DevOps methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience with agile sprint management, bug tracking and testing life cycle management using Azure DevOps
  • 5+ years experience in Digital Service Design
  • Demonstrated experience conducting iterative design proof-of-concepts / wireframes in Figma or other tools
  • Develops sound processes for requirements gathering including but not limited to JAD sessions, interviews, mockups, etc
  • Develops performance measures and traceability matrices for business analysis evaluation and conducts follow-up
  • Demonstrated experience conducting validation and verification of all design elements on webpages

Nice to have:
  • Demonstrated experience conducting Ontario Design System validation for each UI object

Note: 3 days onsite and 2 days remote


Responsibilities:
  • Create effective, user-friendly, and visually appealing interfaces.
  • Seasoned UX designer, interactive designer, UI designer, or similar role for web and mobile applications.
  • Create low, medium, high fidelity mock-ups, working porotype in Figma using Ontario Design System.
  • Review the mock-ups and prototype with users and constantly refine based on feedback
  • Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and datasets; conduct data analysis for performance measurement.
  • Design the overall functionality of the product to ensure a great user experience; iterate based on user testing.
  • Design user interfaces for various projects such as digital displays, publications, media, and creative materials.
  • Take a user-centered design approach; rapidly test and iterate designs.
  • Conceive and conduct user research, interviews, and surveys; translate findings into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes.
  • Write usability discussion guides; analyze survey data and provide project recommendations.
  • Relevant experience creating GUI designs based on user interaction and performance.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools.
  • Thorough understanding of web development technologies and their appropriate use.
  • Experience designing online programs with a focus on human emotional experience.
  • Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions for core and new functions/features.
  • Gather user feedback to configure existing interfaces.
  • Collaborate effectively, meet deadlines, manage priorities, and handle client relationships.
  • Knowledge of network security and protocols.
  • Lead and coordinate service design for integrated service delivery solutions, business processes, and methods.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on user behaviors, digital needs, and motivations.
  • Design user research plans with clear objectives; lead user outreach and engagement plans.
  • Write user research engagement and recruitment plans; create user interview guides.
  • Conduct user interviews and workshops for different user groups.
  • Synthesize user research findings into reports, problem statements, and opportunities.
  • Plan future research phases, create product roadmaps, and develop low- and high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Create personas, empathy maps, user needs documents, current/future journey maps, and process flow documents.
  • Conduct jurisdictional scans for similar problems and solutions; create survey reports.
  • Develop low-fidelity concept papers/digital prototypes using Ontario Design System.
  • Create Digital Discovery close-out reports; write business requirements, rules, and user stories.
  • Map user stories to business requirements; report progress regularly to Project Management.
  • Conduct Joint Requirements Planning and Joint Application Design sessions.
  • Analyze and map processes/data for current and future states.
  • Conduct usability tests on prototypes and existing products; gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.

Skills
Experience and Skill Set Requirements
UX and Service Designer skills - 55 points (weighted score)
  • 5+ years experience in Digital Service Design
  • 5+ years experience in Digital UX Design and Research
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting users research and user consultation
  • Demonstrated experience in Evidence- and context-based design. Has experience in designing systems for use across multiple services and can identify the simplest of a variety of approaches.
  • Applies re-engineering concepts to promote business improvements through alternative and cost effective service delivery approaches
  • Demonstrated experience in Ontario Design System https://designsystem.ontario.ca/
  • Demonstrated experience conducting iterative design proof-of-concepts / wireframes in Figma or other tools
  • Demonstrated experience in AODA act 2005 for WCAG elements implementation https://www.ontario.ca/page/about-accessibility-laws

Business Analysis skills - 05 points (weighted score)

Experience in managing user stories with Agile, SCRUM, Lean, DevOps methodologies
Leads and conducts business analysis in order to assess client's business problems/opportunities and documents the business requirements in such a way that I&IT solutions can be determined
Develops strategies, prepares business cases and cost-benefit analysis, and conducts feasibility studies for business I&IT initiatives
Develops sound processes for requirements gathering including but not limited to JAD sessions, interviews, mockups, etc.
Conducts business modeling; use case modeling; conceptual and logical data modeling; process and data flow modeling; use case surveys; business rules definition and non-functional requirements definitions for assigned projects
Monitors progress, resolves problems and reports regularly to I&IT management and stakeholders
Develops performance measures and traceability matrices for business analysis evaluation and conducts follow-up
Experience conducting requirements gathering, developing documentation, including presentations and briefing notes and conducting stakeholder engagement

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience reporting progress on deliverables to team, project leads and management, including proactively raising risks/issues with migrations
  • Demonstrated experience working with clients and technical teams to ensure effective resolution of defects and management of change request are complete

Agile Experience - 10 points (weighted score)
  • Experience with Agile scrum methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience with agile sprint management, bug tracking and testing life cycle management using Azure DevOps
  • Thorough understanding of SDLC, specifically QA processes in agile development environments

Design Validation- 10 points (weighted score)
  • Demonstrated experience conducting validation and verification of all design elements on webpages

Experience with Service design and User research with First Nations, Mtis, Inuit, and urban Indigenous - 5 points (weighted score)
  • Previous experience working with First Nations, Mtis, Inuit, and urban Indigenous
