Surgical Tech - OR Tech

This job is located in Rochester, NY

As a Surgical Technologist, you will be an integral part of our surgical team, contributing to safe and efficient surgical procedures. Your expertise will help ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. You will work closely with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in a dynamic and fast-paced surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Preoperative Preparation:

  • Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies according to the surgical procedure.

• Assisting Surgeons:

  • Pass instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures.
  • Hold retractors, cut sutures, and perform other tasks as directed.

• Instrument Care:

  • Maintain an accurate count of surgical instruments and supplies to ensure none are left inside the patient.

• Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team to provide optimal patient care.

• Sterilization and Equipment Management:

  • Clean, sterilize, and organize surgical instruments and equipment after procedures.

• Infection Control:

  • Adhere to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to maintain a sterile surgical environment.

• Patient Safety:

  • Ensure proper positioning and padding of patients to prevent pressure sores or nerve injuries during surgery.

• Emergency Response:

  • Assist in handling emergency situations during surgery, following established protocols.

• Documentation:

  • Accurately document and maintain records of surgical procedures, including instrument counts.

Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of surgical technology experience.
• Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and procedures.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
