Job Summary
The Senior Litigation Counsel will be a key partner in the Midea America Corp. Legal team supporting the company's continued corporate growth, including advising on litigation matters and legal operations. This position reports to the General Counsel of North America.
Essential Job Responsibilities
• Assist with fact investigations related to assigned litigation matters with a focus on product liability matters
• Oversee external counsel handling assigned litigation matters
• Prepare or review pleadings, motions, briefs and other litigation documents
• Manage discovery related to litigation, including gathering information, responding to discovery and e-discovery requests, and participating in depositions
• Coordinate with third parties such as insurance carriers, brokers, and external counsel
• Engage in dispute resolution, including conducting settlement negotiations, participating in mediations, and drafting and reviewing settlement agreements and releases
• Identify areas of risk and draft appropriate indemnification agreements
• Research regulations and statutes and advise with respect to compliance
• Assist with regulatory and product liability investigations
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
• Juris Doctor or LLM degree from an ABA-accredited law school and member of the bar of a U.S. jurisdiction.
• Proven experience working at a law firm or in-house legal department for 4-7 years.
• Previous experience with product liability, business litigation, and regulatory compliance is strongly preferred.
• Preferred qualification of managing class actions.
• Active member, in good standing, of the New Jersey bar, or have the ability to secure an in-house license within 6 months.
• Strong ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workload, and be a flexible multi-tasker who is able to juggle shifting priorities and tasks.
Salary: $150k– 190k, Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO and other leaves.
