WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERS
The Product Development Manager at Roehm Innovation Center will manage and coordinate product innovation and application development for the Medical Segment globally. Additionally, the Product Development Manager will be responsible for product and application development, product transfers and design support for the Automotive and LEOD Segment in Region Americas (RAM). This position will closely collaborate with REU and RAS Technology Centers to align and translate Molding Compound innovations.
The Product Development Manager supports the global strategy of the Molding Compounds Medical market segment, as well as the local strategy of the Molding Compounds RAM market. This position is critical to the continued growth and success of all market segments in the RAM region and global expansion as it provides important contribution to development projects and customer support.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Propose new R&D initiatives, manage and execute on innovation project pipelines to drive innovation and commercial successes.
Provide new product and application development for new acrylic molding compounds to support the Global Medical Segment and Automotive and LEOD segment in Region Americas (RAM).
Collaborate closely with Application Development Engineers and Strategic Account Managers to qualify acrylic molding compounds products for new customers’ opportunities.
Generate intellectual property to strengthen company commercial advantages.
Establish and strengthen product innovation and application database for Molding Compounds RAM.
Support investigation of Quality Improvement Projects.
Work closely with Technical group in Germany and China to align on best practices and transfer knowledge.
Coach Innovation Center technical team on polymeric material formulation, processing, and characterization.
Assist new product scale up to manufacturing environment.
Advocating and lobbying in committees and working groups that set standards in the Medical Segment.
Present to customers at large conferences and trade fairs.
The ability to travel up to 20% domestic or international.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING
Master’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer/Material science or Chemical Engineering, PhD preferred.
More than 5 years of experience in product & process development/application technology, most preferably in the field of Medical and Automotives Plastics.
Statistical knowledge or DOE experience.
Ability to work productively in a team environment, experience in people management is preferred.
Experienced in R&D innovation project and pipeline management.
Experienced in polymer formulation, processing and characterization.
Good written and oral presentation skills to both internal and external audiences.
Good software skills with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. SAP experience a plus.
Quality and safety mindset.
