Job Description: Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer to work from their Canonsburg, PA facility. We are seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer with 3 to 10 years of technical experience to become an integral member of the engineering team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics and underwater acoustic systems.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
· Analyze and design analog and digital electronic circuits including signal conditioning, power, analog-to-digital conversion, and communication
· Integrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardware
· Develop test criteria and assist in the design of test systems including test software applications
· Perform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions
· Design, analyze, and test underwater acoustic systems
· Design and build prototype cable assemblies
· Perform solder rework of prototype circuit card assemblies
· Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer
· Generate design and interface documentation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 
· Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation and test phases
· Working knowledge of common communication interfaces such as Ethernet, RS-485, USB, CAN bus, LVDS, and protocols such as TCP and UDP
· Experience in analog and digital circuit design including signal integrity principles
· Proficiency in all phases of PCB design, including: creation of high-level functional and architectural diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry (OrCAD Capture experience a plus), and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc.
· Strong documentation and communication skills
· Experience with the following a plus: navigation systems, and MATLAB programming
 
Education and Experience
· BS in Electrical Engineering or similar degree
· 3 to 10 years of experience
 
Physical and Mental Requirements for all positions:
• Prolonged stationary periods at a desk
• General ability to operate computer and other productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.
• Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds at times
• Effectively communicate with others
• Ability to stay focused and provide attention to detail.
• Ability to think analytically and apply problem solving skills to scenarios throughout the course of the workday
 
** This position requires the applicant to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance. Due to the nature of this work US Citizenship is Required**
