We have an outstanding Contract position for a Payroll Clerk to join a leading Company located in the Laurel, MD surrounding area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain payroll data and process bi-weekly payroll for 8,000+ staff across multiple states, ensuring accurate payment and compliance with internal governance procedures and external regulations. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will come into play while you monitor and maintain internal and regulatory controls to ensure data quality through data analysis and reports. Flexibility will also be instrumental in ensuring the team's ability to adapt as requirements change and/or evolve.
- Using your strong interpersonal and communication skills, you will respond to and support customer inquiries and sensitive and confidential matters that foster a trustworthy and collaborative environment. Your aptitude for critical thinking and effective problem-solving while safeguarding sensitive information will facilitate timely and applicable solutions that are advantageous in a deadline-driven environment.
- We expect you to manage payroll records retention efforts. Your solution-oriented approach will be instrumental in offering ideas to improve information management activities impacting internal and external regulatory controls
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent relevant work experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience with payroll processing
- Have processed payroll for a large organization (5,000+ staff)
- Working knowledge of HRIS/Payroll systems and multi-state payroll experience
- Basic knowledge of automated time and attendance system(s)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Outstanding attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to collaboratively perform in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate at all organizational levels
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and independently resolve challenges
- Have a strong desire to learn and can easily adapt to changing environments
Desired Qualifications:
- Have experience with in-house Time and Attendance, HRIS, and/or Payroll applications
- Have exposure to in-house management of short term disability
- Maintain a professional payroll certification, such as Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Have experience in a Department of Defense (DoD) or Government contracting environment
