Job Description
BACKGROUND: 
A temporary scientist in the Union Assay Laboratory at Client Corporation will be responsible for the on-time execution of analytical requests in precious metals analysis, providing direct analytical support to Client businesses. Expected to handle multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced analytical chemistry laboratory. The incumbent must work well both independently and as a team member, assisting in other areas if necessary. They must have excellent laboratory skills, including detailed record keeping and knowledge of safe handling of chemicals and equipment. Background in elemental analysis or analytical chemistry is preferred.
 
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 
·         Physical preparation of samples for elemental determinations (weighing, dissolution, precipitation reactions, wet chemistry)
·         Assist other chemists where needed
·         Ensuring safety and quality in the laboratory
 
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 
·         A.S. Chemistry or related field plus 0-3 years relevant experience, B.S. Chemistry or related field plus 0-3 years relevant experience
·         Hands-on experience in elemental analysis
·         Ability to effectively work on diverse teams and to actively participate in collaborative efforts
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
