This year, more than 140 people will support 3000+ businesses and we expect to double our turnover over the next two years.</p><p><strong>About the role</strong> </p><p>We are looking for a highly motivated, diligent and detail-oriented Legal Compliance Assistant to join our team at Harper James. </p><p>Working closely with our Compliance Manager and Client Onboarding Team, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining compliance with all legal, regulatory and ethical requirements with a primary focus on anti-money laundering Client Due Diligence, ongoing monitoring and record keeping. </p><p><strong>Roles & Responsibilities </strong> </p><ul><li>Conduct AML checks, client due diligence, and ongoing monitoring </li><li>Identify UBOs, high-risk countries, PEPs, sanctions, and changes in ownership </li><li>Handle compliance checks on new matters, ensuring all processes meet regulatory standards </li><li>Support compliance audits, data protection obligations, and compliance training coordination </li><li>Maintain compliance records and provide administrative support to the compliance team </li></ul><p><strong>Key Skills </strong> </p><ul><li>Previous AML or compliance or significant administrative experience in a legal or professional services environment. </li><li>Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively. </li><li>Strong organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. </li><li>The ability to work on your own initiative, whilst drawing appropriately on the knowledge, experience and support of a close-knit team. </li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills with the confidence to communicate complex regulatory requirements to clients and colleagues at all levels of the business. </li><li>Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ideally experience using case management software. </li><li>A strong understanding of the need for discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive legal and compliance matters. </li></ul><p><strong>The bottom line </strong></p><ul><li>An opportunity to play an important part in the next phase of growth for a law firm leading innovation within legal services. </li><li>An environment with no politics, no bureaucracy, working with a passionate, supportive and dedicated team who all play a fundamental part in the success and continued growth of the business.</li><li>Competitive salary.</li><li>33 days holiday, including public holidays.</li><li>Option to buy up to 5 holiday days a year.</li><li>Private Healthcare</li><li>Death in service benefit. </li><li>Access to our electric car scheme. </li><li>Full time role, office, hybrid or home based (monthly team meetings take place at our Birmingham office. </li></ul><p>If you’re diligent, detail-focused, and have a genuine interest in compliance, we’d love to hear from you! </p><p>NO AGENCIES PLEASE </p> •
