Clinical Health Network (CHN) is a managed health services organization that values innovation, equity, agility, and grit. CHN's learning organization has a focus on expanding an individual capabilities to ensure the delivery of superior health services. The Learning and Organizational Development Team is focused on creating, acquiring, and transferring knowledge to CHN employees.
CHN believes that continuous improvement is the foundation for long-term success and that continuous learning is the core competency that enables high performance. This work will run in parallel to the creation of CHN specific learning initiatives that are essential to multiple CHN functions. The Learning and Development Specialist develops online training and e-learning for specific functions, i.e., Patient Access, Revenue Cycle, Financial Verification, and other corporate functions.
Essential Functions
- Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist uses proven experience and abilities to fully engage learners in a structured organizational learning environment and enhance their job performance through application of a systematic instructional design model
- Consults with leaders and business partners to determine most effective instructional methods and tools based on needs assessment and/or specified training needs
- Utilizes industry best practices to design, develop, and deliver learning events that are effective, measurable, and timely to an audience that encompasses individual contributors through senior leaders
- Proactively leverages new methodologies and learning technologies to enhance instruction and employee outcomes
- Evaluates learning and development programs, and reports on measured results, modifying training programs when necessary to adapt to business or work environment changes
- Leads the development, ongoing maintenance, and management of training processes, procedures, and standards for the L&D function
- Demonstrates the principles of adult learning, time and classroom management skills, and delivers leadership and core competency development for new and incumbent employees
- Embraces new technology. Stay informed of learning enablers for next-generation learning-management systems, virtual classrooms, mobile-learning apps, embedded performance-support systems, polling software, learning-video platforms, learning-assessment and -measurement platforms, and open online courses
- Creates and promotes a culture of continuous improvement
- Ensures compliance with all CHN and affiliate policies and state and federal regulations
- Demonstrates a commitment to CHN and Planned Parenthood’s mission related to health equity, especially centering racial equity, and deep sense of accountability to community
- Demonstrates a commitment to learning about and enhancing practices related to racial equity and the impact of structural racism on healthcare systems
- Provides positive and development feedback and accountability related to practices including, but not limited to, equity

Qualifications and Experience (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of experience developing training strategies and curriculums for leadership development and technical training
- Demonstrated experience in gathering learning requirements from a broad range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in leveraging collaborative web-based tools, mobile learning, and social media to deliver effective training and knowledge sharing
- Possesses a deep level of curiosity to understand new business functions and work
- Advanced facilitation skills with experience in all phases of the instructional design process for adult learning
- Willingness to travel in accordance with the needs of the position, as outlined in the essential functions. Compliance with all CHN travel policies, including safety guidelines while operating a personal vehicle
Qualifications and Experience (Preferred)
- Master’s in Training & Development, Education, Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or related field; an equivalent of the same in working experience is also acceptable
- Current membership in a national training organization (such as American Society for Training and Development) and certification as a training professional.
- Training experience in a healthcare organization
- EHR Experience, EPIC is a plus (Patient Access, Financial Verification/Clearance or Revenue Cycle Management)
