Job Description:
The main responsibility is to develop solutions that enhance the overall safety and reliability of wind and solar plants. This position reports directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager. The primary objectives are to lead, design, schedule, and address critical issues related to the operations project, while ensuring that the company guidelines for improving operations reliability are met.
Managing complex and time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment is an essential requirement for this position. Additionally, effective communication with both the engineering and operations teams is crucial for successful completion of the assigned projects.
Responsibilities :
Provide engineering support to improve the safety and reliability of electrical equipment.
Analyze data, troubleshoot and inspect equipment to identify, review and diagnose problems that affect the performance and reliability of the electrical system.
Develop a preliminary design for assigned projects and create a scope of work document for project bidding. (Having Substation Engineering Design Experience is crucial for this role).
Evaluate technical contractors' proposals and participate in technical review meetings to discuss project approach.
Review contractor's design submittals.
Manage projects schedule throughout their lifecycle.
Coordinate operation substation improvement projects and liaise with contractors and operation plant managers.
Offer electrical troubleshooting support to operating facilities.
Regularly analyze, summarize, and communicate findings to the client management team.
Skills & Qualifications :
Must Haves:
Support operating facilities with electrical troubleshooting, including review of digital fault records, relays, and other operational data for electrical tripping events and mis-operations
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, protection system, wiring diagrams and other common specifications
Function 1: Substation Troubleshooting and Issue Tracking
Experience with Schematic Wiring, P&C (Protection & Control), One-Line Diagram
Direct Experience with Substation Design
SEL Relay Experience
Function 2: Engineering Design Review
Function 3: Substation Improvement Projects
Highly Preferred:
Ability to perform electrical system modeling using ETAP, SKM, and other similar software
Conduct and review protection relay setting and coordination
Familiarity with HV Substation systems and equipment (115 kV though 525 kV); HV Substation design engineer is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, protection system, wiring diagrams and other common specifications.
Ability to site visit High Voltage Substations.
PE Registration is preferred or ability to obtain within 3 years of employment.
Excellent communication skills, including ability to clearly communicate ideas to non-engineers.
Ability to remain focused and reliable in completing tasks and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and manage technical projects, including interaction with outside vendors.
Demonstrated ability to manage priorities in a complex and dynamic environment.
Demonstrated ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license.
7 or more years of highly relevant technical experience.
Master Engineering degree is a plus.
Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and climbing at project locations in order to inspect and repair equipment or collect information.
Willingness and ability to travel at least 15%
