Skills:Job Responsibilities:
The Genetics and Genomics Group in the Genzyme R&D Center seeks a highly motivated genomics scientist / computational biologist to work in a dynamic and cross-functional team supporting genomics and translational research and therapeutic product development. Main responsibilities are to provide data analysis and functional interpretation using a variety of molecular profiling data, including DNA and RNA sequencing, proteomics and cytokine profiling. You will interact with research scientists on biomarker discovery, mechanism of action, molecular target identification projects at every stage of the project, from experimental design to data analysis to hypothesis generation for downstream validations. You will be expected to keep abreast of the latest systems biology analytics in the literature and collaborate with informatics engineers to benefit the internal analytic process. You will drive the generation and testing of hypothesis leading to new biological insights. You will be expected to effectively communicate analytical results with internal project collaborators through both presentations and one-on-one interactions. Additionally, you will be expected to contribute to data management and computational infrastructure support within the group.
Education:Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in biological sciences with strong quantitative background and 1-2 years of experience in bioinformatics/genomic research and data analysis. Experience must include hands on analysis of next generation sequencing data or microarray data and expert use of relevant software. Research experience in network analysis is highly valued. Working knowledge of biological knowledge bases and functional interpretation engines, such as IPA, MetaBase, DAVID is a must. Overall desired characteristics include: self-starter, faster learner, creative, hands-on, team player.
