A growing program at a leading academic institution is seeking a full-time senior lab coordinator to join its lab operations team. This position will play an essential role in facilitating the research and collaborative relationships of scientists from regional institutions and affiliated hospitals in a unique and dynamic environment. This not to be missed opportunity would be a great transition for a self-motivated scientist interested in lab management.
Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the position, the ideal candidate possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues at all levels, as well as the ability to work independently and take on new responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. The senior lab coordinator plays a highly visible and impactful supporting role, engaging in all aspects of the day to day operation and maintenance of multiple research spaces. Exceptional dependability, attention to detail and time management skills, as well as good judgment and the ability to problem solve are critical qualities for success.
The responsibilities of the senior lab coordinator will include some routine and administrative duties, such as processing purchases, record keeping (e.g., maintaining inventory of equipment and service contracts), preparation of documents (e.g., COMS and IRB protocols), scheduling events (e.g., lab clean ups) and other related tasks as needs arise around the lab. The ideal candidate for this position is results- driven and seeks new opportunities for growth.
Under the general direction of a faculty member:
· Develop, design and conduct research projects using advanced quantitative and qualitative methods.
· Conduct background research and literature reviews.
· Synthesize, analyze, and interpret results.
· Write, edit or update all forms of academic writing including case studies, academic and popular journal articles, teaching notes, project reports, policy memos and multimedia scripts.
· Provide advanced subject-matter expertise and act as a collaborator and thought-partner to the faculty member.
· Requirements include evidence of academic excellence and prior high-quality, original academic writing and research.
· Strong skills related to analysis and interpretation of relevant data, research, news, and literature are needed.
· Demonstrated skill at navigating complex information, situations and organizations and proven ability to work
· independently and creatively are needed.
· Full proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected.
Requirements:
· This position requires a master's degree in a science field and previous experience in a research or clinical lab setting. Strong computer skills, especially in MS Office suite products, and the ability to lift, move and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds are also prerequisites
