Client: Major Bank
Duration: 12+ Months
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Pay Rate: Up to $50/hour (w2)
Overtime Rate: $75/hour
Corp to Corp: Up to $54/hour

Job Description:


Tax Operations Specialist - Banamex USA
The Tax Operations Specialist will be expected to lead and act as an authority on all tax related manners for Banamex USA. This position will work with various business units and third-party vendors to ensure Banamex USA is within compliance of tax reporting and withholding processing. Additionally, this position will be involved on technical tax issues using strong knowledge of IRS regulations, including FATCA. This position will interact on a regular basis with Operations Management and will participate on internal and external tax audits.

Responsibilities Include
Oversee FATCA reporting and foreign backup withholding
Research and resolve tax issues
Liaise with third party tax vendors and ensure BUSA is compliant with all applicable corporate, federal and regulatory requirements
Perform quarterly and annual reviews of tax processing and recommend changes for improvements as necessary
Be able to identify Tax Classification changes due Change in Circumstances (CIC)
Validate Customer Tax Status at account opening and during maintenance/supersedes
Review and participate in the annual solicitation process for expired and expiring W8 on customer files
Ability to develop, execute, and manage project plans
Ensure policies and procedures are kept up to date as tax regulations and processes are updated
Participate in risk and control reviews, including internal and external audits

Qualifications
Bachelors in business, accounting, or equivalent, CPA preferred
5+ years' experience of tax reporting and foreign backup withholding processing
Strong knowledge of IRS / FATCA regulations, IRS tax reporting forms (e.g., 1099, 945, 1042, W8, and W9), and withholding processing
Experience with IRS exams and external audits
Ability to coordinate with multiple third-party vendors to ensure tasks are completed timely and accurately
Strong operational background with proven leadership ability
Ability to work as self-starter in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with project management and partnering skills
High proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft based programs
