Job Description: Human Resources Specialist
The HR Specialist is responsible for various HR functions, including benefits administration, employee engagement initiatives, onboarding, and compliance with employment laws.
Responsibilities:
- Manage new employee onboarding including benefits education (insurance, 401k, FSA) and employee records for I-9, Everify, TN new hires, Employee Manual acknowledgments, and Mineral HR training
- Manage company offer letters to candidates and reference and background checks.
- Resolve employee benefits issues, manage open enrollment and benefit-related meetings/communication, work with insurance agency
- Plan and manage employee review process annually.
- Conduct new employee 90-day check-ins.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws, liaison with employment attorney for in-depth guidance regarding employee issues and company policies; advise management accordingly.
- Manage Employee Manual content and employee distribution, write/develop other HR policies as needed.
- Administer disciplinary/probation procedures, manage employee terminations, conduct exit interviews, prepare severance agreements and ensure legal compliance, assist with COBRA if requested.
- Manage employee data on the Employee Navigator website (entry, benefits, time off, plan documents).
- Work with hiring managers to create job descriptions.
- Develop plans to meet training and development needs.
- Respond to, submit documentation and manage FMLA, disability claims, parental leave, workers compensation claims and unemployment claims, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Support the preparation and documentation of any audit requirements related to HR functions.
- Handle employee complaints and concerns in a confidential and sensitive manner, ensure adherence to whistleblower policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
- Serve as backup for payroll processing through Paychex as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in HR, preferably in a generalist role.
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
