Ideal Experience:
• Hospital credentialing (privileging) – not just managed care.
• Exposure to provider enrollment
• Echo Credentialing Software or MSOW experience - if they do not have experience with either software they must experience with a credentialing software.
o MD Anderson uses Echo as their credentialing tool.
• Heavy data entry experience.
• If the candidate ONLY has experience working in a doctor's office or clinic completing provider network documents they should have at least 10 years of experience to be considered
• The manager would NOT be interested in candidates who have worked with managed care only
Soft skills: Go-getter, adaptable, able to be cross-trained and can hit the ground running and not need a lot of hand holding. Must take initiative to help get the department caught up and not just wait for work to be given to them.

SUMMARY
• Oversees the credentialing and recredentialing process for designated staff.
Scope
• Impacts medical staff and/or mid-level credentialing activities to assure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
Essential Job Functions
• Coordinates the credentialing or recredentialing process according to institutional and regulatory standards. Serves as primary source for verification by outside agencies. Assists in the organization and maintenance of all practitioner's credential files. Coordinates and performs data entry functions required in practitioner database. Participates in the preparation for Joint Commission and other regulatory reviews.
SUPERVISION
Received: Medical Staff Coordinator.
Given: Assigned staff.
REQUIREMENTS
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Education Preferred: Associate's degree in related field.
Experience Required: Three years office experience in medical staff services or credentialing position with working knowledge of credentialing/recredentialing process.
Experience Preferred: Associate's degree in related field.
Licensure/Certification Preferred: Certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS).
