Description:
RPO's client is seeking two skilled Site Engineers to ensure the successful completion of quality projects within both the project time frames and budget. The role involves coordinating all relevant parties and implementing processes, practices, and solutions that ensure maximum efficiency and control of costs during the construction process.
Responsibilities:
- Risk Management:
Proactively report and address risks. - Draft risk assessments and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Prioritize opportunities for cost reduction and risk transfer.
- Identify opportunities and contribute to mitigating actions.
- Participate in peer reviews and internal/external audits.
- Planning and Organising:
- Understand and apply construction programs and planning techniques.
- Collaborate with the Site Agent and Planner to formulate schedules.
- Ensure accurate communication of program requirements.
- Implement works and coordinate site preparation activities.
- Strategically plan project execution, fostering collaboration between site office and on-site staff.
- Oversee and synchronize procedures related to planning, costing, and contract management.
- Manage ongoing works in alignment with the project's contractual obligations, restricting wastage and overtime as much as possible.
- Project Execution:
- Monitor and regulate overall progress, costs, quality, and safety compliance.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Actively contribute to cost control.
- Efficiently manage construction plant and equipment.
- Enforce correct drawings and specifications for timely project completion.
- Coordinate work systematically and identify cost-effective options for plant and equipment usage.
- Liaise with the Clients Resident Engineer and Clerk of Works to ensure timely inspections and quality sign-offs.
- Generate and follow up on queries linked to inadequate construction information supplied by the professional team.
- Submit and track sample and shop drawing approvals.
- Prioritize and approve long lead items to avoid delays in on-site requirements.
- Reporting:
- Present clear management reports detailing target aspects, both negative and positive variations.
- Detail actions taken to minimize the impact on project completion.
- Assist in the preparation of Contract Reports.
- Provide technical support to meet client needs.
- Maintain a daily site diary by collating information for approval.
- Update a delay diary to manage and control project schedule aspects.
Requirements
- Relevant BSc in Engineering or Construction Management within the Construction industry.
- Professional Registration with SACPCMP.
- 3-5 years of relevant on-site experience as a Site Engineer on major building projects.
