Hire Resolve is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Resident Engineer to join our client's reputable company in Randburg, South Africa.
Fixed Term Position

We are looking for a Resident Engineer (Structural) with substantial site experience to oversee activities for a 12-storey commercial building project. The role involves extensive interaction with the client and ensuring all site operations meet project requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
- Observe and assess the work progress, inspect materials and craftsmanship, and obtain necessary information from the contractor.
- Relay communications between the Engineer and contractor, both verbally and in writing.
- Inspect the works to ensure they adhere to the contract specifications.
- Witness and evaluate tests and mock-ups conducted onsite and offsite.
- Arrange for the collection of all test certificates.
- Ensure adherence to plans and specifications, reviewing completed work before enclosure or final completion.
- Continuously review work procedures and materials used in construction.
- Provide technical interpretations of plans and specifications to the contractor as needed.
- Verify quantities for payment certifications.
- Attend regular site progress meetings and technical discussions.
- Prepare proactive estimates for proposed changes, aiding Client and Engineer decision-making.
- Assist in resolving contractual and financial disputes raised by the contractor
Requirements
- Bachelor of Technology (B-Tech) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Membership in a relevant professional body, preferably registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr Tech Eng).
- At least 10 years of full-time site experience specifically in commercial building projects, which is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
- Strong record-keeping abilities and experience in Quality Assurance (QA).
- Highly organized with excellent planning and management skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, along with strong communication and report-writing abilities.
- Demonstrated capabilities in project management, client liaison, and consulting.
