Responsibilities Works under general supervision, to conduct and monitor laboratory experiments utilizing established and published procedures, and technical and theoretical understanding. Makes recommendations to resolve problems encountered during experimental procedures. Assumes responsibility for the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of experimental results. Summarizes experimental results, and reviews conclusions with supervisor/project leader. Communicates results of experiments in the form of reports and presentations. Keeps supervisor/project leader informed of project status, particularly of significant findings and results in critical problem areas. Performs work according to established internal safety guidelines and procedures, and as specified by appropriate external regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA). The successful candidate should have a strong background in molecular biology, with hands-on experience designing, optimizing and validating NGS-based assays. IVD assay development experience is highly desirable. Knowledge of next-generation sequencing based workflows including target enrichment, library preparation, and data analysis is preferred. Accurately and consistently records all experimental data (experimental methods, materials and results) in electronic laboratory notebooks and design history files. Ensures testing is performed in accordance with SOPs and regulations (cGMP and GLP) for all products and operates and maintains lab equipment as required by SOPs and testing procedures. May serve as primary contact for project(s) and ensures timely initiation and completion of all studies Recommends innovative approaches, and/or expansion or curtailment of investigations based on experimental data or new scientific information arising from area of responsibility. Assumes responsibility for timely completion of projects, and responds appropriately to changing priorities. Ensures technical activities under manager supervision are conducted within internal and external guidelines and regulations. Interacts with other departments to further project goals. Good interdepartmental communication skills and ability to interact effectively across groups within a fast-paced environment are required. Attends project meetings, writes reports, and makes risk assessments on stability results. Presents findings or comprehensive project status reviews at internal/external seminars/meetings. Contributes/authors scientific publications/manuscripts and presents at conferences/ seminars. Analyzes experimental data using various data analysis software and/or applying quantitative methods. Forms conclusions, and provides/documents process improvements. Participates in routine lab maintenance, lab safety, ISO, and QSR implementation. Analyzes alternative approaches to solve problems or develop new perspectives on existing solutions. May act as a lead for assigned projects or team. |
