Job description for Mechanical Engineer
Responsibilities
1. Using CAD or AutoCAD to analyze existing tooling designs and improve on them.
2. Developing prototypes and testing new designs.
3. Traveling to manufacturing plants to gather information and solve the issues.
4. Executing engineering change orders and design changes as requested from business unit.
5. Developing new work holding fixture/tooling designs for welding with minimum input requirements
6. 3D modeling and 2D manufacturing drawings, assembly models and drawings for new fixture/tooling
designs
7. Converting models and drawings to latest CAD platform per latest drawing standard.
8. Complete projects on time and meet stated and unstated requirements.
9. Creating BOMS for products and updating them in (Oracle) MRP software.
10. Executing any other tasks received by reporting manager from time to time.
Requirements
1. Proficiency in Solid Works, UG NX, Solid Edge, AutoCAD and Team center. Should have sound knowledge
and expertise in 2D drawing and 3D modeling. Should be of minimum level 4 on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being
lowest and 5 being highest).
2. Must be expert in dimensioning and tolerancing per American standard
3. Should have knowledge of GD&T. Should be able to apply and also knows the inspection procedure to
check GD&T applied.
4. Have hands on experience on plastic/casting design and drawing
5. Should have the hands-on experience on design of work holding fixtures for plastic welding jobs
6. Should have good knowledge of materials for fixtures/tools and their international standards
7. Should have effective communication skills to interface with colleagues, customers, or vendors
8. Independently able to handle tasks.
9. Knowledge of plastic molds, draft face analysis and parting line deciding for molded parts
10. Should know the work process flow for engineering change notes implementation
11. Should be able to deliver defect free deliverables every time.
12. Team player who collaborates well with co employees.
13. Should have 4-5 years of experience working in the global engineering environment
14. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills
15. A good eye for detail
16. The ability to complete projects on time and to specification
17. Should be willing to take on responsibilities and challenges
Qualification Mechanical engineering Graduate with 3-4 years plastic molding and fixturing tool
design experience or NTTF/GTTC with 3-4 years' work experience on plastic molding and fixture
designs
