THE BROAD
The Broad is an internationally renowned contemporary art museum founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. Designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with Gensler, the museum offers free general admission. The Broad is home to the 2,000 works of art in the Broad Collection, which is among the most prominent holdings of postwar and contemporary art worldwide and presents an active program of rotating temporary exhibitions and innovative audience engagement. The 120,000-square-foot building features two floors of gallery space and is the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation’s worldwide lending library, which has actively loaned collection works to museums around the world since 1984. Since opening in September 2015, The Broad has welcomed more than 4 million visitors, and has one of the youngest, most diverse audiences of any museum in the country.
ABOUT THE POSITION
As a member of the Collections Management team, the Associate Registrar will perform tasks involved in all areas of exhibition and permanent collection registration, including but not limited to exhibition logistics, installation/de-installation oversight, incoming and outgoing loans, collection care and documentation, and courier services. They will be responsible for supervising art handlers and external contractors as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Exhibitions
o Prepare loan agreements, correspond with lenders and venues, manage logistics for packing, shipping, couriers, and insurance for foreign and domestic loans and Broad-organized traveling exhibitions
o Create and maintain loan documentation including condition reports, digital photographs, checklists, and travel condition notebooks
o Generate budget estimates for packing, transportation, couriers, loan fees, conservation, and framing and track expenditures
o Organize installation/deinstallation schedule and supervise art handlers on installations/de-installations at the museum and other locations
Outgoing Loans
o Prepare outgoing loan agreements and condition reports, review facility reports for potential borrowers, monitor loan negotiations to ensure that paperwork is completed in a timely manner
o Correspond with borrowers, packers, shippers, customs brokers, and couriers to arrange for the safe handling, packing and transportation of loans
o Coordinate logistics for domestic and international outgoing loans, schedule and oversee crating, shipping, and courier travel arrangements
o Accompany artwork and serve as museum representative for domestic and international loans
Permanent Collection
o Ensure proper handling, packing, movement, and storage of collection artworks
o Create and update collections database (Embark) records and physical object files
o Prepare condition reports for new acquisitions, incoming and outgoing loans
o Produce photographic documentation of objects and installations and upload digital images to Digital Asset Management system with accurate metadata
o Assist with annual inventories
· Complete additional duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical requirements include stooping, kneeling, bending, standing, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing (ladders) and reaching above the shoulders.

Monday-Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
$70,200.00-$72,000.00 annual salary.
