The Materials Manager plays a key role in the effective and efficient planning of all Raw Material/Packaging across two sites. They manage the Material Planning team on a day-to-day basis to ensure the successful operation of the team, minimising cost and maximising service. They’ll ensure operational sites always have an adequate flow of materials to enable production at the time required without disruption to the supply plan. While also standardising ways of working are implemented across sites with the teams all using the same systems and methodologies for material planning.
This is a fast paced role, which offers the opportunity to shape and develop the material planning function.
To be successful in this role, they need to have worked in a similar management/material management position within a FMCG or Manufacturing environment with end to end Supply-Chain experience. They will have excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and challenge effectively. They will have the experience to influence at all levels while working collaboratively to deliver the strategy along with experience of managing and leading teams.
This role is based in Sheffield with regular site visits in Manchester.

This is what you’ll actually do!
As the Materials Manager you will manage all aspects of the Material Planning team and Weekly requirements to enable production across sites. Ensuring sufficient Material supply to cover planned production in a lean and effective manor whilst considering warehousing & bulk storage constraints. You’ll monitor and identify synergies between suppliers between sites (site and non-site-specific products).
You’ll identify optimum storage solution and identify synergies for bulk purchasing of consignment stocks to provide factories with products at minimal cost and maximum efficiencies, while liaising with Purchasing to ensure cross functional goals are met. Along with ensuring all sites are joined up with product identity/supplier codes and Material availability is available to meet daily schedules for each site on time and in full at minimal cost across the business.
As the Materials Manager you will be responsible for the management of delist process for raw materials and packaging. You’ll manage and motivate a team to achieve objectives. You’ll have excellent stakeholder and influencing skill as you will develop strong working relationships with key strategic suppliers and lead regular reviews on performance to identify improvements and aligned ways of working that benefit both Finsbury Food Group and the supplier. You’ll work closely with suppliers and procurement to resolve gaps & delays in supply and be the escalation point to resolve queries. While also developing systems and process to enable standardised ways of working across group.
