Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic for our client to play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of their diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and related components, as well as handling small engine repair tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnosis and Repair:
Conduct diagnostic tests to identify mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines and systems.
Perform repairs and replacements on diesel engine components, including but not limited to, fuel systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, and transmissions.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic systems such as engine control modules (ECMs) and wiring harnesses.
Small Engine Repair:
Utilize your expertise in small engine repair to diagnose and fix issues in small gasoline-powered engines, such as those found in generators, pumps, and landscaping equipment.
Replace or repair small engine components, including carburetors, spark plugs, and ignition systems.
Conduct regular maintenance on small engines to ensure optimal performance.
Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance tasks on both diesel and small gasoline engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
Inspect and service brake systems, steering systems, and suspension components.
Conduct preventive maintenance to prevent breakdowns and ensure equipment longevity.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and time spent on each job.
Complete maintenance reports and documentation for compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, emissions standards, and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical school training in diesel mechanics and small engine repair is a plus.
Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic and small engine repair technician.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment.
Knowledge of diesel engine systems, including electronic control systems.
Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and efficiently.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy equipment and parts
Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
Physical dexterity for working with hand tools and equipment.
