Summary
Estron Chemical is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Manager to lead the company's safety programs and initiatives. This position is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant agencies, while fostering a culture of safety across the organization. The Safety Manager will manage safety procedures, conduct training, handle incident reports, and provide support for both day shift and swing shift employees. The primary focus of the role will be ensuring compliance with safety regulations and managing safety activities, with additional responsibilities added as necessary.
Essential Functions
- Champion safety initiatives across the facility to ensure employee and public safety.
- Manage all aspects of OSHA-required safety programs including hazard communication, respiratory protection, and emergency response planning.
- Oversee the plant’s medical surveillance programs, including pre-employment physicals, annual physicals, physical demands screenings, and drug testing for cause.
- Handle worker injury reporting and worker compensation claims.
- Select and procure proper PPE for employees, ensuring appropriate use across all job functions.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Administer safety training for confined space entry, hot work, AED/CPR, first aid, and other OSHA or company-specific safety requirements.
- Lead investigations into safety accidents, incidents, and near-misses, developing and implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Complete required annual OSHA and EPA compliance reporting.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, coordinating drills and exercises.
- Review and update safety programs annually as needed.
- Supervise safety personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in chemical manufacturing industries.
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude who treats all coworkers with dignity and respect.
- Ability to handle complex safety compliance tasks while continuously improving safety processes and programs.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to conduct training and present safety policies effectively.
- Experience with OSHA and EPA regulations and compliance reporting.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to supervise employees.
- Familiarity with hazardous waste management and related regulatory compliance preferred.
- HAZWOPER 40-hour certification preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) preferred.
Additional Information
Candidates should be hands-on and prepared to manage all aspects of safety compliance, with strong knowledge in both regulatory requirements and the practical implementation of safety procedures. While environmental experience is a plus, the focus of this position is on safety management.
