The Client IT Applications organization is seeking an experienced Team level Agile Coach to assist with our adoption of agile methodologies and agility mindset in 2021. This is a 9 to 12 month contract with options to extend into 2022 based on performance.
Brief Role Description: At Client Information Technology we have begun adopting agile practices with our Web development teams and are looking to expand to new teams in 2021. We have opportunities to partner across our IT Applications organization providing Agile coaching with both project and delivery teams focused on Data Warehouse, SAP CIS, ServiceNow, and Energy Operations technologies. These teams are generally new to agile practices and would benefit from an experienced
team levelagile coach focused on adoption of Scrum and Kanban project management frameworks.
While our organization is excited to be expanding our adoption of agile, an ideal coach will have 2 to 3 years' experience in purely a coaching of Agile teams role with limited experience supporting Enterprise level transformation. This is not a delivery role and the coach will not have responsibilities to manage team's execution of work akin to a Scrum master role. Candidates with practical experience in full time Agile Coach roles (not hybrid Scrum Master + Coach)
The Agile Coach will have the following responsibilities:
- Work as part of our IT Agile Transformation office within IT Applications to support 2 to 3 teams providing agility coaching for Agile Mindset, Kanban, Scrum, and other common agile tools.
- Regular attendance at key team ceremonies to provide just in time feedback and adoption of agile mindset and prescribed framework.
- Partner with aligned Business teams to support new Product Owners on developing the PO role, its relationship with the team, how to shape and prioritize work using common frameworks and practices (stack ranking, WSJF).
- Owns backlog of team level Agile Transformation improvement/opportunities and drives efforts to completion independently.
- Conducts Agility assessment recommendations using our internal methodology to create Agility adoption roadmaps for the teams we will coach with the goal of assessing all teams within IT Applications by year end.
- Provides role specific coaching when appropriate based on methodology: Team Member, Scrum Master, Product Owner, People Manager roles.
- Coaches in a Lean-Agile Process as well as other Agile methods, including Kanban, Large Scale Scrum, SAFe, XP, etc.
- Advises on construction of team back logs, story templates, definition of done/ready, acceptance criteria, and adapting data to drive inspection and experimentation.
- Evaluates teams and recommends development/process improvement plans for the skills necessary to improve.
- Promotes Agile Software Engineering principles and practices teams use to deliver solutions quickly and reliably.
- Guides Lean-Agile values and principles education with 1 st level People Leaders.
- Coaches and guides the facilitators of team level Product Demos.
Desired Experience and Skillset - Bachelor of Arts or Science required. Preferred degree in technology or information systems.
- 7 to 10 years' experience working in multiple roles progressing from Individual Contributor in Software Development Agile teams (Developer, Test Engineer, Designer) to team leadership roles (Dev lead, Scrum Master, Product Owner, Test Engineer Lead)
- 2 to 4 years Agile coaching at the team level experience. 1 3 years' experience with organizational or department level process improvement
- Change Management (ProSci-ADKAR) and adoption strategy experience for Agile Transformation at the team level.
- Ability to work and communicate to varying levels of an organizations leadership.
- Experience working with regulated industries (Healthcare, Insurance, Finance, Energy, Government)
- Experience using Microsoft TFS, Azure Dev ops, ServiceNow Virtual Task boards and Agile modules
Work Availability Expectations Due to COVID19, Client IT is working from home through at least June of 2021 and likely into the remainder of the year. There is no hard requirement that a resource must be local to a Client Office during that time period but should be able to work West Coast time zone (8 to 5 PM) without issue. Any intention to change that policy in June will be negotiated with the awarded vendor.
