Job Description:
The primary function of the AV Technical Specialist for Clinical Skills is to assist with the day to day utilization and operation of classroom, exam room, control room systems and infrastructure in the Harvard Medical School (HMS) Clinical Skills Center, ensuring overall system health and consistent maintenance for incident-free operation.
This position will also work as part of a team of technicians and specialists to provide on-site technical support and repair services at HMS, and to ensure scheduled events are successful in their use of AV technology on campus. The AV Technical Specialist for Clinical Skills will administer, operate and maintain technical equipment and systems, to ensure technical quality and dependability, as well as provide operational coverage when necessary. This position will be regularly assigned to help plan and support a diverse set of events with varying technical and support requirements across a range of unique spaces and equipment configurations, as well as quickly respond to "Priority 1” issues for troubleshooting and immediate resolution. As a member of a cross-functional team of support technicians, this position shares responsibility of occasional evening and weekend work to support classes, examinations, and other events in support spaces, sometimes overseeing additional contract technical staff.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ø Assist with operation of classroom, exam room, control room systems and infrastructure in the Clinical Skills Center
Ø Maintain Clinical Skills Center system health with regular testing for incident-free operation.
Ø Set up, strike, test, and maintain portable classroom simulators and associated AV systems.
Ø Administer, operate, and maintain presentation, audio, and video equipment and control systems in teaching spaces.
Ø Provide in-room presentation support for high-stakes events and classes.
Ø Provide live video streaming and recording support for scheduled events for HMS faculty, staff, and students and hospital affiliates. This may include field video production as well as control room operation of PTZ cameras, production switchers, and video encoders. Apply basic edits to recordings prior to delivery to clients.
Ø Troubleshoot advanced level AV or computer-related hardware or software problems.
Ø Triage support tickets daily using workflow management system (ServiceNow).
Ø Assist in managing key AV systems (monitoring and scheduling software, video content management systems, and web conferencing tools).
Ø Perform daily AV checks and remediation of AV systems.
Ø Train students, faculty, staff, and hospital affiliates in the use of AV technologies.
Ø Research and advise on recommended workflows or technical options to improve quality, operational efficiencies, and the end-user experience related to our service offerings.
Ø Diagnose, document, and report AV equipment failures.
Ø Perform troubleshooting and implement workarounds and AV repairs.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 40lbs. Must be able to utilize ladders and/or mechanical lifts for maintenance of audio-visual equipment installed in overhead environments.
