We are looking for a REMOTE Oracle DBA Database Admin with Database Engineering skills; who also has exposure to DevOps best practices to support a long-term contract at the Veterans Affairs Administration.

Description:

Assist with the planning and engineering of the organization's databases. Maintain responsibility for implementing and maintaining one or more complex databases hosted in the AWS cloud. Utilize DevOps best practices to ensure database configuration is maintained in infrastructure code. Develop ad-hoc SQL for data analysis and to troubleshoot data discrepancies. Monitor performance, scalability, and security and evaluate existing database design to determine the necessary updates and integration requirements of a new design and to ensure final solutions meet organizational needs. Analyze the design, development, and delivery or implementation of data solutions, including architecture design, prototyping of concepts to proof of concept, analysis of the development of standards, design, and test plans, code, module design development and testing, data solution debugging, design and implementation of a solution that follows efficient design techniques, and development that meets and exceeds the intent of the design of the data solution.

You Have:

2+ years of experience with installation, maintenance, and administration of Postgres or Oracle (Oracle DBA Preferred)
2+ years of experience with Cloud-native database solutions, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) Relational Database Service (RDS) and Amazon Redshift
2+ years of experience writing Structured Query Language (SQL)
1+ year experience with DevOps tools and practices (Ansible, Terraform)
Ability to design and develop complex SQL queries and reports to retrieve required data
Ability to troubleshoot data discrepancies and develop knowledge of data structures.
Experience with database replication technologies (AWS Data Migration Service or Oracle Goldengate)
Experience with a scripting language (Ruby,Python,Bash)
Experience with a complex build system
Experience with supporting Linux systems engineering efforts in system design and evaluation, solution engineering, software development, or system administration
Knowledge of Agile methodologies or the software development life cycle (SDLC)

Nice If You Have:

Experience with Git and Github source control tools
Experience with code reviews on SQL change sets and work with developers to create and enforce best practices
Exposure to security scanning tools, configuring their use and working with teams to fix vulnerabilities
Experience with ETL and Data Warehousing methods
Experience with Tableau
Experience with AWS Glue
Experience with AWS IAM (Identity and Access Management)
Experience with Ruby on Rails
