Software Application Engineer

Primary Job Responsibilities

· Understand solutions requirements and design and develop systems to meet them

· Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Python software solutions

· Architect and implement systems to run business applications

· Document use cases, create physical and logical data models, and build deployment plans

· Work as part of an agile team to actively communicate status and complete deliverables on schedule

· Use source control to manage project versions and code changes

· Collaborate with and shape other parts of the organization to jointly deliver customer value

· Evaluate open source solutions to meet business needs

· Propose and implement continuous improvement activities

· Analyze log files and provide technical support and ongoing application maintenance for the team's applications

Required Skills and Experience

· Bachelors or masters degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field of study

· 5+ years of experience in software development developing for production applications in Python

· Experience writing Java web applications and Java frameworks is a plus

· Solid understanding of object-oriented analysis, design and implementation

· Experience with scalable, resilient solution design

· Experience with MySQL/MariaDB and/or PostgreSQL databases

· Demonstrated ability with distributed source control tools like git.

· Experience developing web-based applications and RESTful APIs

· Experience with Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, or other container technologies

· Comfortable working in a DevOps capacity

· Comfortable working in/from non-graphical Linux environments

· Background with Agile project methodologies and rapid iterations

· Active, engaged, and highly-collaborative. Able to self-start within a team setting

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
