Construction Manager

Contribute to our mission of Bettering Days through our retail stores as a Construction Manager. You'll get to oversee new store openings and remodels and ensuring timely and high-quality project execution. Coordinate all phases from pre-construction to close-out, manage stakeholder communications, and ensure compliance with building regulations. You must be based in a Southern California Philz market in LA or San Diego.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Project Management and Execution

• Manage project schedules, tracking New Store and Remodel work based on critical path timelines.
• Provide timely and accurate updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead project management during pre-construction, design, bidding, buyout, construction, schedule management, and close-out phases.
• Coordinate project activities, including site inspections and meetings.

Stakeholder Coordinator and Compliance

• Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, communicating progress, milestones, and issues effectively.
• Evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
• Oversee contractors, assess vendor performance, and address any contractual issues or disputes.
• Manage all project documentation, including contracts, permits, and budgets.
• Ensure contractors and vendors follow building regulations and safety standards.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and third-party consultants to perform thorough due diligence for projects.

Quality Control and Financial Oversight

• Take a proactive stance in design drawing review to ensure quality control and adherence to brand-specific design, value engineering, and construction standards.
• Collaborate with real estate, design team, contractors, vendors and landlord/developers to develop project plans and construction timelines.
• Complete all post-opening construction validation and ensure conformance to standards processes to bring projects to contractual closure.
• Ensure openings are successfully executed with minimal outstanding items and oversee high-quality turnovers to the Operations Team.
• Assist in preparing project budgets and cost estimates.
• Monitor project expenses, track budget allocations, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies, maintaining inventory and tracking deliveries.
• Conduct inspections and quality checks to ensure workmanship meets standards and implement corrective actions as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a construction management role overseeing food & beverage retail construction projects
• Ability to read/interpret construction drawings, specifications and other technical documents
• Experience in managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage general contractors, architects, specialty vendors, and other professionals providing services for construction projects
• Knowledge of all project documents, including but not limited to construction documents, specifications, GC contracts, purchase orders, submittals
• Experience using Bluebeam, Smartsheet and Google products
• Understanding of lease terms.
