Job Summary:
Supervise and conduct day to day operations for egg processing facility including operating and troubleshooting all processing equipment as needed. This position is responsible for organizing crew members and operations in order to complete the daily schedule while maintaining the highest levels of food and employee safety. Capable of being an effective communicator between department peers and superiors along with interpersonal communication with direct reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate and troubleshoot processing equipment
- Supervise direct reports to ensure product quality, schedule attainment, and production efficiency
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff including overseeing new employee onboarding, providing career development planning, and opportunities
- Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals, then delegates and expect accountability and regular feedback
- Employee training on food safety and sanitation program while being compliant with SQF, USDA, and 3rd party audit requirements
- Track and maintain all employee company trainings
- Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition, rewards, and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary
- Maintain transparent communication. Appropriately communicate organization information through department meetings, 1:1 meetings and any other regular interpersonal communication
- Set daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and communicate them to employees
- Organize workflow by assigning responsibilities and preparing schedules
- Ensure the plant is kept clean and presentable
- Monitor and report on department performance
- Develop strategies to improve department metrics and performance
- Completion of required operation reports, log tracking and other required paperwork
- Improve the work environment and operations of your department and the organization as a whole
- Ensures all safety programs and policy are being followed while leading a safety 1st culture
- Other duties as assignee
Backup:
- A trained designee will be appointed by management to cover for absences or vacancies; refer to Rembrandt Foods site-specific facility back-up matrix on file.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Analytical abilities for trouble shooting on mechanical and process equipment
- Analytical abilities to find waste, shrink, suggest solutions and problem solve
- Must be mechanically inclined and have ability to perform general maintenance as required
- Ability to operate power tools and equipment safely
- Ability to read, understand and effectively communicate information through writing and speaking so others will understand
- Hand/Eye/Foot Coordination
- Independent Self Starter/Team Player
- Attention to detail
- Advanced English: fluent: speaking, reading and writing
- Mathematical skills: General Arithmetic/Basic Algebra/Percentages/Fractions
- Computer skills: be able to report and analyze information
Preferred:
- Previous Supervisory Experience
- College degree preferred but not required – consideration given to number of years work experience in place of college degree
- Experience in pasteurizing and drying liquid egg
- Fine Motor Skills
- Mechanical and equipment repair skills
- Sanitation experience: CIP, pumps
Equipment:
