Safety Manager

RPO Recruitment is currently representing a leading mining company in KZN, who is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to ensure the health and safety of their workforce. As a Safety Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing safety policies, conducting regular inspections, and investigating incidents to identify areas of improvement.

You will also be involved in delivering training programs, staying updated on industry regulations, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and passionate Safety Manager to make a significant impact in the mining industry.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement safety policies and procedures
• Conduct regular safety inspections and audits
• Investigate accidents and incidents, and implement corrective actions
• Deliver safety training programs to employees
• Ensure compliance with local and international health and safety regulations
• Stay updated on industry best practices and changes in safety regulations
• Promote and maintain a culture of safety within the organization
• Prepare reports on safety performance and present findings to management

Requirements

• Degree in Natural Sciences/Safety / Environment or equivalent
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a mining sector within SHEQ is required.
• A minimum MDP or alternate Business Management Qualification
• Legal competency in one or more of the specialists SHEQ areas with generalist knowledge of others
• Leadership in a form of team management is crucial.
• Excellent knowledge of local and international health and safety regulations
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
