PURPOSE OF ROLE:

As a Lead User Experience Designer, you will be primarily responsible for leading and generating inspiring and actionable designs to help improve our customers' experiences, and champion user driven decisions.

You will manage and Lead a team of Senior, Midweight, Junior, Apprentice and Intern Designers and be responsible for delivering UX Design planning and roadmaps alongside the UX Managers & Product Managers.

You will work in a team alongside other UX professionals, who are leading the user-centric product transformation of a previously traditional financial services business. It is an exciting role that will make a real difference within an industry that is ripe for better design thinking and a user-centered focus.

You will be responsible for uncovering opportunities to further improve our understanding of both current and prospective users to create simple, intuitive but high-performance user experiences and designs.

Day to day, you’ll be working alongside UX Designers, UX Copywriters, UX Researchers, Analysts, Product Owners, Product Managers, Developers, Testers, Customer Service Advisers, and stakeholders across the business.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • You will lead a team of UX designers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to help them deliver high-quality designs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UX Writers, UX Researchers, product managers, product analysts, engineers, and other stakeholders, to define and understand user requirements and business goals.
  • Work closely with Product Managers to make sure the roadmaps are feasible from a UXD Point of view.
  • Work closely with the Lead UX Researcher, making sure UX Design and UX Researcher are partners along the way.
  • Support UX Researchers with usability testing, and other UX activities to gather insights and inform design decisions.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and mock-ups to communicate design concepts and interactions effectively.
  • Design and iterate on user interfaces that are visually appealing, functional, and usable across different devices and platforms
  • Work closely with our UXOps team to develop and maintain design systems, style guides, and pattern libraries to ensure consistency and coherence in our products.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve the user experience of our products.
  • Champion user-centric design principles throughout the organisation and advocate for the needs and preferences of our users.

Must Haves

  • Proven experience as a Lead or Senior UX designer ready to make the next step, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design work and thought process.
  • Confidence speaking with stakeholders and presenting ideas.
  • Experience in leading and mentoring a team of UX designers, providing feedback, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive design culture.
  • Proficiency in Figma & FigJam (or the ability to learn it very fast)
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility standards.
  • Ability to conduct user research, usability testing, and other UX activities to inform design decisions (You will work closely with our UX Research Team)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex problems and create elegant solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationale to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with responsive web design, mobile app design, and/or other digital platforms.
  • Passion for staying updated with the latest design trends, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
