The recipe!

The Cluster EHS Manager plays a vital role in delivering expert guidance and support to highly effective EHS teams. Their mission is to ensure that all processes and systems meet legal compliance while striving for continuous improvement. They will also be responsible for upholding the Weetabix Standard for Health and Safety and the Weetabix Environment Standard.

  • Shape, manage and coordinate the deployment of the manufacturing EHS strategy within the Cluster, remaining aligned to the EHS systems and processes developed centrally whilst delivering ownership of all aspects of the EHS factory operation.
  • Provide EHS leadership within the Cluster to enable successful delivery of the EHS KPI Scorecard in line with business goals.
  • Develop and maintain the competence of Cluster colleagues through coaching and mentoring techniques to ensure compliance with regulations and our target of zero accidents and zero environmental incidents.
  • Ensuring that the appropriate talent is in place within the team and collaborate with our Union partner in the recruitment and development of the cluster Safety Rep Team
  • Provide support and guidance to ensure effective incident management, root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Drive and own the closure of non-conformance actions through effective internal and external influencing and relationship management of the Cluster.
  • Work with senior internal stakeholders always ensuring impartial guidance and when required, facilitating visits with government agencies such as the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and Environment Agency (EA)
  • Create and own factory risk registers in line with company strategies where issues are identified and develop capital investment plans leading to improved legal compliance and incident/accident reduction.
  • Selection, justification, approval and on-time delivery of risk-based projects (capital and non-capital) and change management activities which drive the Cluster's people, property and environmental protection internally and externally.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert on EHS topics.

Requirements

The Key ingredients for success!

Qualifications are not always the 'be-all and end-all' and we really value your wealth of experience, however for some roles that are governed by legislation we will ask for specific qualifications and achievements. We will ask for evidence of these during the process.

Non-negotiables:

  • Technical background in both Health & Safety and Environment with relevant qualifications (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management, NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Management)
  • Ability to create, maintain and update all elements of Safety Health & Environmental Management
  • Possess outstanding leadership qualities with the ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to interpret UK Law and keep up to date with current industry thinking and developments legislation
  • Harness exceptional coaching and influential abilities to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proactive change agent with the ability to establish support at the senior level.

Nice to haves:

  • Engineering experience in a food manufacturing environment.
