Originally founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, DREAM has grown to annually serve more than 2,500 youth across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of six PreK-12, extended-day, extended-year DREAM Charter Schools and community sports-based youth development programs. Reporting to the High School Operations Manager, the Temporary High School Operations Aide will provide critical support with day-to-day operations at DREAM Charter High School. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about education to gain experience into what it takes to run a high school from an operations standpoint.
Responsibilities:
- Provide reception coverage for school office;
- Field telephone calls; decide daily which inquiries can be handled directly and which to refer elsewhere;
- Provide school operational and administrative support (i.e. ordering food, arranging transportation, supporting with aesthetics, etc.);
- Support with family outreach and communication;
- Support with trips, events, and special projects;
- Support with school-wide systems and routines;
- Support with the registration and enrollment process;
- Support with auditing and organizing records and files;
- Support with day-to-day operations, and other responsibilities, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Either has already obtained or is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree;
- Experience with operations, preferred;
- Experience working with students, preferably high school aged, preferred;
- Strong commitment to customer service and understanding of the importance of administrative functions to the organization's mission;
- Solid oral and written communication skills;
- Team player with a strong sense of personal responsibility;
- Hard-working, urgent, and energetic;
- Flexible and enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
- Excellent record of attendance and punctuality;
- Willingness to learn and receptive to feedback;
- Bilingual in Spanish/English, preferred, but not required;
- Some knowledge of Google and Microsoft applications (Google Sheets, Google Drive, Excel, etc.);
- A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the belief that all students can succeed, and a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community.
Compensation:
- DREAM offers competitive compensation commensurate with relevant experience. The hourly rate for this position for incoming staff is $17.00/hour.
Location & Schedule:
- This position will be in-person at DREAM Charter High School: 20 Bruckner Blvd, Bronx, NY 10454
- Start date: ASAP
- End date: November 30, 2023 with the possibility for extension
- The days/times are as follows:
- Monday through Friday: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
