About the Role
As a Senior Staff Accountant -Tax, you will be helping our clients better understand their tax obligations and planning opportunities, which will enable them to remain compliant while also strategically planning for the future.
You will be responsible for preparing Canadian tax returns for businesses and business owners, estates, trusts, and individuals. Your ability to research unique and complex tax scenarios and translate the insights into actionable solutions for clients will be an important part of your role. You will also be responsible for effectively communicating progress updates with team members on an ongoing basis.
What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
- Conduct tax planning and preparation for a diverse client base, ensuring compliance and strategic advantage
- Research and resolve complex tax issues, providing insightful recommendations
- Prepare and review various tax filings, maintaining accuracy and adherence to regulations and internal processes
- Collaborate effectively within the tax team and across departments to deliver exceptional client service
- Stay informed about tax law changes and industry trends to offer proactive advice
- Build positive working relationships with our clients, responding to their questions in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
- Uphold a high degree of professional standards and confidentiality in all client interactions
What You Need to Succees
- 1-3 years of recent post-CPA experience in a Canadian public accounting firm, with a strong emphasis on tax (such as T1s, T2s, T3s, reorgs, planning, research, etc.)
- Proven track record in tax planning as well as preparation and review of Canadian tax returns for businesses and business owners, estates, trusts, and individuals
- Proficient in researching unique and complex tax scenarios and adept at translating the insights into actionable solutions for clients
- Exceptional technical skills and attention to detail
- Computer proficiency in Caseware, Taxprep (iFirm), QuickBooks and Microsoft Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, French would also be an asset
- Highly organized with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and priorities
- Fast learner and comfortable with technology, and
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
