About the Role
As a Manager for our Managed Accounting Services team, you will lead our team that is responsible for helping our clients know and feel confidence in their numbers, which means that your impact will be felt by both a wide variety of our clients as well as our team.
You will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of bookkeeping clients, working independently and collaborating with other Managers to plan, prepare, and review bookkeeping engagements, ensuring that all work adheres to both firm policies and professional standards. Your role will also involve guiding the team to deliver assignments on time and within budget.
What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
- Work collaboratively with other Managers to supervise client engagements, ensuring compliance with firm and professional standards
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual bookkeeping tasks, as well as required account reconciliations
- Review recorded accounting transactions and report any irregularities to management
- Supervise the progress of the team to ensure assignments are delivered on time and within budget
- Respond to client requests in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
- Process client documentation in appropriate tax/accounting software and ensure compliance with government filing requirements
- Maintain strong communication with Partners and Managers regarding file progress and significant issues
- Train and supervise bookkeepers, staff, and students, providing input for their annual performance assessments
- Identify opportunities for extending services to existing clients and assist in the preparation of proposals for new business
- Uphold a high degree of professional standards and confidentiality in all client interactions
What You Need to Succeed
- Minimum 3 years of experience in managing client engagements in a public accounting setting
- Strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles, including 5 years of full-cycle accounting for various industries
- Ability to multitask – managing multiple, ongoing client engagements
- Skilled in client relations, with a knack for identifying additional service opportunities
- Exceptional documentation skills, ensuring accuracy, organization, and timeliness
- Strong communication skills, both in explaining complex information and in written documentation
- Computer proficiency in QuickBooks, Xero, Hubdoc, Dext, Wagepoint and Microsoft Office, and a high comfort level with technology
- Experience in supervising teams and managing multiple concurrent projects
- High level of personal initiative and a positive, can-do attitude
