Research Associate II

 

The Role: 

As a Research Associate 2, you'll play a pivotal role in advancing our research efforts across Strain Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, and Protein Science. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on diverse projects, applying your expertise to solve complex challenges and drive innovation in sustainable protein production.

 

What you'll accomplish

• Contribute to multiple projects across scientific disciplines, adapting quickly to new areas of focus
• Design and execute experiments in strain engineering, analytical chemistry, and protein science
• Develop and optimize analytical methods and assays for various research initiatives such as material sciences and protein biochemistry, 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project goals and drive results
• Maintain meticulous laboratory records and prepare comprehensive technical reports
• Troubleshoot experimental procedures and equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Assist in the development and implementation of new technologies and methodologies
• Present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex data into actionable insights
• Stay current with relevant scientific literature and emerging technologies in biotechnology
• Support the preparation of research materials for internal and external presentations

 

What you bring (required)

• Bachelor or Masters degree in Protein Chemistry, Food Science, Material Science, or a related field
• Strong background in, materials science,  protein characterization techniques and analytical methods
• Experience with food applications and understanding of food matrices
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
• Ability to effectively communicate scientific findings to diverse audiences
• Strong documentation and report writing skills

Nice-to-have (but not required)

• Experience in multiple scientific disciplines (e.g., microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology)
• Familiarity with high-throughput screening techniques
• Knowledge of bioinformatics tools and data analysis software
• Experience with laboratory automation systems
• Understanding of regulatory requirements in biotechnology or food science
• Project management skills or experience
• Publication record in relevant scientific journals
• Experience presenting at scientific conferences or industry events

Pay Range: $70,000 - $87,000 + Stock Options

Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
