About the Role:
The Financial Controller at Plume plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations, particularly in telehealth. This person will manage accounting functions such as month-end close, revenue cycle, vendor management, and financial audits. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in GAAP and healthcare accounting, financial analysis, and strategic planning. They should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, confident in their ability to streamline processes, and capable of leading a team while collaborating across departments.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, telehealth billing regulations, and other relevant standards.
- Collaborate with auditors to manage financial audits and tax filings.
- Work closely with the Revenue Cycle Management team to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition.
- Analyze revenue streams and optimize billing processes for DTC and FFS models.
- Oversee the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of all transactions.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes within deadlines.
- Assist in developing and managing the annual budgeting process, including variance analysis.
- Provide financial insights and long-term forecasting to senior management.
- Manage daily cash flow and oversee vendor payments, including contract negotiation.
- Implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and billing.
- Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
- Supervise accounting team members, providing mentorship and support for their growth.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in operations, IT, and legal to meet business goals.
- Contribute to the company's strategic financial planning and growth initiatives.
Must-Have:
- A strong understanding and appreciation for the trans experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 15+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or related fields.
- Experience in healthcare or telehealth finance, with knowledge of industry-specific regulations.
- Experience working with cash and insurance reimbursements as revenue lines.
- Familiarity with Friendly PC model and cash flow between entities needed to minimize tax exposure.
- Proven experience executing a GAAP audit with a third-party firm.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, healthcare revenue recognition, and compliance standards.
- Proficiency in financial software like NetSuite, Bill.com, Ramp, and advanced Excel skills.
- Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and revenue cycle management.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience managing teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and handle multiple priorities.
- Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
- Familiarity with telehealth billing models and regulations (DTC, FFS).
Nice-to-Have:
- Prior experience working in a startup environment.
- Knowledge of process automation tools or systems.
- Familiarity with other healthcare or telehealth compliance standards.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects to streamline financial operations.
