Senior Mechanical Engineer - Hydropower - Hybrid
Location: Overland Park, KS, Ann Arbor, MI, Chattanooga, TN, Atlanta, GA, Cary, NC, Jacksonville, FL, Portland, WA, Sacramento, CA, Denver CO
The Opportunity
In this role you will have the opportunity to act as a client facing Senior Mechanical Engineer for hydropower projects. The professional will have the opportunity to lead teams, provide direction and mentor developing engineers. The professional will design for new and upgrade projects for energy owners, including:
-Hydro turbine new and upgrades
-Pumped Energy Storage
-Turbine and generator bearings
-Bearing oil systems
-Generator cooling systems
-Hydro plant assessments and capital investment planning
-Dam and water conveyance projects, including radial gates and large valves
-Raw water systems
-Fire protection systems
-Control air systems
-Compressed Air Systems
-Heating and Ventilation Systems
This Senior Mechanical Engineer will supportHydropower Projects from one of our regional offices but can be located anywhere near a B&V office in the US. The professional will have the opportunity to lead multi-disciplined teams and will coordinate with other professionals in the US and Canada.
Education Requirement:
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in their home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Preferred Qualifications
-15+ years of mechanical engineering experience in hydropower or related field
-Previous experience with engineering projects in a utility power plant setting
-Experience in design or operation support of conventional or pumped storage hydroelectric generation stations
-Previous experience in a client facing and problem-solving role
Certifications
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license •
