Scope: Oversees the Engineering team, supervises maintenance and repair.
Primary Responsibilities:
Handling construction/remodeling projects with an emphasis in the scheduling and coordination of general contractor work.
Act as liaison between Engineering and other departments and guests as needed. Supervise the flow of information coming into the department to be sure all situations are being handled appropriately and assist with difficult calls.
Supervises and assists engineering staff in the maintenance and repair of plumbing, hotel rooms, A/C and heating, ice machine, swimming pools, lighting, kitchen equipment, refrigeration, laundry, emergency generators, switch rooms, etc.
Ensures all maintenance and repairs are completed on a timely, cost-effective basis and according to specifications.
Orders necessary materials and tools for repairing equipment and keeps within budgetary guidelines.
Maintains an ongoing preventative maintenance program for the hotel.
Responsible for administering and documenting equipment preventative maintenance and guest room preventative maintenance.
Responsible for the safety of the department and the building.
Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
Follows company policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to subordinates.
Aggressively recruits and staffs department using company hiring standards (i.e. behavioral questioning, reference checks, evaluations and team interviews). Reviews performances and assists in career development.
Conducts training classes regarding safety, security, department procedures and service guidelines.
Ensures hotel is in compliance with all federal, state and local laws, including OSHA, EEOC, Wage Hour and Health laws.
Ensures all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies are corrected.

Internal: All hotel departments: For maintenance of equipment
External: Vendors: For purchasing and receiving supplies.
Qualifications: Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Two years college/vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering or plumbing plus 6 years' work experience, is preferred. Special consideration will be given to those who exhibit exemplary performance. Certification and/or License Requirement: Professional Certification and license if required by law. Minimum level 3 EPA Certification for refrigerant reclaim.
