Company: Development Counsellors International (DCI), headquartered in New York City, is looking to hire a Manager, Social Media to join our “place marketing” agency. For more information about DCI visit www.aboutdci.com.
DCI is an equal opportunity employer and has taken a Diversity Pledge to ensure our agency is advancing racial justice, identifying unconscious bias, educating our staff, and using our place marketing platform to advocate for change. Our agency is also a member of the Diversity Action Alliance and Black Travel Alliance. While this job posting is a guide, we welcome applicants who may bring diverse backgrounds, ideas, and experiences to DCI.
As a Manager, Social Media at DCI, you will play a key role in a range of projects including social media content creation, reporting, and strategy support. You will work closely with colleagues to successfully execute long and short-term campaigns. This is an exciting opportunity to execute social media strategies and grow in the industry. In addition to working on talent attraction (B2C) and economic development (B2B) campaigns, there is potential to work on tourism campaigns pending business needs.
We’re looking for someone who:
Thrives in fast-paced environments while paying attention to details.
Is the grammar queen or king in your circle of friends. No unwarranted comma or line break goes unnoticed.
Is proficient in writing for social media (particularly hooking the audience and maintaining brevity).
Has the ability to edit short-form videos from user-generated content for Instagram Reels and TikTok, using Canva.
Stays on top of ever-changing social media algorithms, platforms, and trends, and can articulate to colleagues and clients when and why brands should participate.
Has a passion for places. You love exploring the world (or your own backyard), meeting new people, engaging in local and authentic experiences and uncovering the uniqueness of places you live, work and visit.
What you’ll be doing at DCI:
You will support 5-9 accounts on average, depending on the complexity of the campaign. This role will flex: on larger accounts, you will review a junior team member’s work, while on smaller accounts, you’ll dabble in content creation yourself. You'll be expected to be on top of the status of each of your clients and keep your manager informed.
Social Media:
Manage content creation for your clients – from ideation and outlining to drafting, scheduling and engaging – and bring new ideas to the table.
Oversee social copywriting and basic video editing, including contributing yourself and reviewing others' work.
Oversee and implement the measurement of campaigns and translate data into reporting of KPIs that are digestible and actionable for clients and team members.
As needed, support social media audits, strategies, and trainings with the director and vice president of social media.
Work with colleagues across paid media, owned media, earned media, analytics and creative to help meet business goals and objectives.
Client Relations:
Participate in internal and client statuses, meetings and brainstorms, with the expectation that you will facilitate portions of the meetings as it relates to your work.
As you grow in this role, we’ll expect for you to recommend new social media ideas to current clients.
Team Collaboration and Thought Leadership:
This role will report to the Director of Social Media and collaborate with the Vice President of Social Media to continually identify and develop internal best practices and new services for clients.
This role does not have any direct reports but will indirectly manage and mentor other junior team members.
Qualifications:
4-5 years of time professional experience; ideally, some agency background
Proven results with social media content creation, copywriting and editing and project management
Familiarity with tools such as (or similar to) Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Rival IQ and Canva. A plus if you have any certifications!
Creativity and an eye for design
High attention to detail and a penchant for organization
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have all necessary approvals to live/work in the U.S. and do not require sponsorship
BA/BS degree
Salary, benefits and perks:
Flexible Paid Time-Off
Unique "open book" management approach that delivers performance-based incentives
Hybrid schedule with flexible in-office collaboration days
Medical/dental/vision coverage
401k match
Base Salary: 77k-85k annually
