Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology
This job is located in Everett, WA
Shift: Days and Nights
As an Oncology RN, you will provide specialized care to patients with hematological and oncological conditions, ensuring their comfort, well-being, and the highest quality of care. Your expertise in oncology nursing, ONS Chemo certification, and experience with inpatient heme oncology care will be invaluable in supporting our patients and their families during their healthcare journey.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for oncology patients.
- Provide direct patient care, including administering chemotherapy treatments, monitoring vital signs, and managing potential side effects.
- Assess patients' physical and emotional needs, provide education on treatment options, and offer emotional support to patients and their families.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to promptly identify and address changes in patients' conditions or adverse reactions to treatments.
- Monitor lab results and diagnostic tests to ensure accurate and timely adjustments to treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Adhere to ONS Chemo certification standards and best practices for safe administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy agents.
- Collaborate with pharmacy and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe preparation and administration of chemotherapy drugs.
- Provide patient education on disease processes, treatment options, and symptom management.
- Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients, following infection control protocols.
- Assist with pain management, symptom control, and end-of-life care for patients with advanced cancer.
- Act as a resource for fellow staff members, providing guidance and support in oncology nursing practices.
Requirements:
- Current and unrestricted RN license in the state of Ohio or valid compact license.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Oncology RN, with specialized inpatient heme oncology or related experience (BMT, acute Leukemia care).
- ONS Chemo certification is required.
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of oncology nursing practices and treatments.
- Experience with administering chemotherapy and managing associated side effects.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices in oncology nursing and a commitment to continuous learning.
- Proficient in using electronic medical records and documentation systems.
- Excellent critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills.
- Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.
