What is the opportunity?

FutureLearn is significantly growing our international business as one of the company’s strategic pillars. We are looking for an experienced Sales Development Representative (SDR) to drive our B2B sales efforts by identifying and creating new business opportunities. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals passionate about education technology and looking to develop their sales career in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

Reporting to the VP of International Development, you will play a supporting role in contributing to international B2B sales for designated international markets. You will research, identify, qualify, and initiate contact with potential customers. You will support the International Development Directors/Managers to nurture and close the sales.   

This is the time for FutureLearn to diversify its business activity and capitalise on its strong brand and expertise in the online edu tech sector. You will be joining a dynamic, passionate and success-driven team and will be key to FutureLearn achieving its education and business objectives.

What does success look like?

  • Research and identify potential customers within the education and corporate sectors, including schools, colleges, universities, businesses and enterprises. 
  • Initiate contact with potential clients through various channels (email, phone, social media, etc.) to introduce our products, services and solutions.
  • Engage with leads to understand their needs, challenges, and goals, qualifying them as potential customers for our solutions.
  • Schedule meetings and product demonstrations for the International Development Directors/Managers with qualified leads.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all sales activities, leads, and customer interactions in the company’s CRM system.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to align efforts, share insights, and support lead-generation campaigns.
  • Provide valuable feedback from prospects and clients to the product and marketing teams to help refine our offerings and strategies.
  • Produce statistical reports, updates, and forecasts.

What you bring to the table:

  • Education to degree level or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience and track record of success in developing/nurturing new business/sales opportunities to generate revenues (desirables in higher education and corporate training sector); 
  • Ability to identify and develop new business opportunities
  • Ability to cope with competing demands and prioritise tasks
  • Strong communication and persuasion skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone, and presentation
  • Good organisational, project management, research and data analysis skills and the ability to work on own imitative and in a timely manner. 
  • Strong negotiating skills and the ability to influence others. 
  • Strong client management and relationship-building skills
  • Good IT skills including proficiency 
  • Strong target-driven and result-focused.
  • Customer-oriented with cross-cultural awareness
  • Flexible and self-motivated
